Key Workflow Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Own end-to-end payroll workflow delivery to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Monitor, manage, and enforce SLAs, proactively identifying and resolving capacity risks
- Oversee escalations and complex customer issues, ensuring high-quality outcomes
Quality & Process Excellence
Implement and continuously refine robust quality control practices with our Process & Quality teamLead root-cause analysis, document findings, and implement preventive solutionsMaintain and enhance standard operating procedures and knowledge assetsScaling & Transformation
Build and optimise scalable onboarding processes to reduce key-person dependencyAct as the technical payroll SME as we transition toward a marketplace and tech-enabled delivery modelPartner closely with Product & Engineering to improve workflows, automate manual tasks, and unlock efficienciesDevelop, mentor, and upskill payroll specialists to maintain high performanceSupport hiring, onboarding, and capability development across the payroll teamCross-Functional Collaboration

Are a proven operator with 3+ years of payroll leadership experienceAre obsessed with execution and delivering high-quality outcomes at scaleSet a high bar for accuracy, compliance, and consistencyLove building scalable systems, workflows, and processesHave deep payroll operations and compliance experience (Australia & NZ ideal)Are detail-oriented but also able to think holistically and design systemsEnjoy partnering with product teams to enhance tooling and automationWant to be part of building the future of payroll delivery in a modern, AI-enabled modelHave experience transitioning teams to marketplace, BPO, or distributed delivery modelsHave implemented or enhanced payroll platforms and automationHave worked in a startup or high-growth environmentHave experience across multiple payroll systems and regional compliance environmentsQualifications And Requirements
4+ yrs Australian payroll across modern awards / EAsPower‑user of Employment Hero and or KeyPay (rules engine, custom GL, STP 2)Expert knowledge : award compliance, payroll tax (all states), super, portable LSL, workers comp, FBTExposure to HRIS / Time and Attendance integrations (Tanda, Shiftcare, BambooHR) desirableClear, confident English—able to translate payroll jargon into plain language for customers & stakeholdersSeniority level
