Role Overview
The Head of Technology is responsible for leading the development and execution of the company's technology strategy in support of current operations and future global growth. The role ensures secure, scalable, and efficient technology services, underpinned by robust governance practices. A key aspect of this position is the strategic management of outsourced technology services, including oversight of the company's Managed Service Provider (MSP). The role is also accountable for ensuring the technology function can support international operations as the business expands into new markets.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
- In conjunction with key stakeholders, develop and execute a technology roadmap aligned with the business's strategic objectives.
- Build and lead a high-performing internal technology team and manage third-party vendors.
- Provide thought leadership on technology solutions to support operational excellence and business expansion.
- Assess emerging technologies and recommend investments to support innovation and scalability.
- Ensure that all departments are aligned with the overarching technology strategy, promoting cross-functional integration and avoiding siloed or uncoordinated technology initiatives.
- Actively contribute to the successful delivery of an ERP implementation and other strategic digital transformation projects across the business.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Design, implement and oversee an IT governance frameworkEstablish policies, procedures, and control frameworks for IT operations, data management, cybersecurity, and software lifecycle management.Lead technology risk assessments, internal and external audits, and compliance reporting activities.Maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.Global Technology Operations
Ensure that IT systems, infrastructure, and support models are scalable and adaptable to international markets.Support global operations through secure, compliant, and efficient technology solutions.Managed Service Provider (MSP) Oversight
Own the relationship with the company's MSP, ensuring high-quality service delivery, clear SLAs, and proactive incident and problem management.Conduct regular performance reviews and drive continuous improvement across all outsourced technology services.Evaluate the MSP's ability to support global growth, security, compliance, and innovation requirements.Cybersecurity & Data Management
Oversee enterprise cybersecurity programs and ensure data protection strategies meet international standards.Implement robust data governance practices, ensuring integrity, accessibility, and compliance with privacy laws.Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership team on technology opportunities and risks.Engage with business units to understand needs and tailor technology solutions accordingly.Key Skills & Experience
Proven senior leadership in IT / technology, including experience managing MSP relationships.Strong background in IT governance, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and risk / compliance management.Experience in contract negotiation and performance management of external providers.Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.Seniority Level
