Naval Architect

Supervises, plans, schedules and provides technical guidance and design expertise in the planning, repair, modification and maintenance of ships and other productive work.

Provides engineering liaison with waterfront production efforts. Participates in engineering studies as assigned, assists in the preparation, conduct and evaluation of inspections, tests and trials.

2.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

2.1 Supervises and coordinates engineering projects as directed by P& E Manager.

2.2 Provides technical guidance and assistance in the planning, design, repair, modification and overhaul in the areas of ship’s hull structure, outfitting and preservation.

2.3 Perform inspection and evaluation services on all hull and outfitting. Conducts inclining experiments and stability calculations. Performs docking calculation.

2.4 Analyzes integrated ship performance speed maneuvering characteristics and provides recommendation as required. Participates in inspections and sea trials of ships.

2.5 Conducts engineering studies in hull and outfitting areas including analysis of existing operating problems. Supervises underwater hull inspections of drydocked and waterborne ships.

2.6 Develops methods and procedures for the operation, repair and maintenance of hull and outfitting areas.

2.7 Performs other duties as assigned.
