The Merchandise Manager is responsible for leading the merchandising function to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction across assigned categories. This role oversees product selection, pricing, assortment planning, promotional activities, inventory management, and vendor relations. The Merchandise Manager collaborates closely with Category Managers, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure optimal product presentation, stock availability, and alignment with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Merchandise Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement merchandising strategies that drive sales and profitability.
- Plan product assortments, SKU rationalization, and category mix in line with market demand and company goals.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior to inform merchandising decisions.
2. Product & Assortment Management
Oversee product selection, pricing, and lifecycle management.Ensure timely introduction of new products and phase-out of slow-moving items.Monitor product performance and recommend assortment adjustments as needed.3. Inventory & Stock Management
Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and turnover.Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory.Implement strategies to improve inventory efficiency and reduce markdowns.4. Vendor & Supplier Management
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional support.Conduct regular supplier business reviews and performance evaluations.Ensure compliance with agreements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.5. Promotions & Marketing Collaboration
Plan and execute promotional activities, campaigns, and seasonal events in coordination with Marketing.Monitor and analyze promotional effectiveness to optimize future campaigns.Ensure consistent product visibility and merchandising standards in stores or online channels.6. Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor merchandising team members, providing guidance and performance feedback.Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and support professional growth.Ensure alignment of team activities with company goals and standards.7. Reporting & Analysis
Prepare regular reports on sales performance, inventory, margin, and vendor performance.Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.Provide actionable recommendations to senior management.Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.5–10 years of experience in merchandising, retail buying, or category management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role .Strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS Excel, reporting tools, and merchandising systems.Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.Knowledge of retail operations, consumer behavior, and market trends.Willing to work onsite in Makati.Benefits
