The Commercial Analyst is responsible for :
- Provide meaningful actionable analysis and insights to the organisation and its stakeholders to drive commercial decision making
- Assist in the preparation of robust budgets and forecasts and associated plans of action
- Deliver reporting that drives performance focus, accountability and business insights
- Build productive stakeholder relationships
- Back up for Daily Bank reconciliation
- RFID Stocktake / Inventory reporting
- Freight reporting
Key Result Areas and Responsibilities
A. Decision Support
Manage and maintain weekly and monthly reporting for relevant Company departmentsUnderstand and accurately report on business drivers of revenue / costsPerform ad hoc reporting when requiredPresent findings to stakeholders to drive commercial decision makingInterrogate large data sets of information and dissect these to surmise information into descriptive and meaningful storiesUtilise data visualisation tools to communicate complex insightsDesign and help implement data dashboards that provide meaningful insights to the CompanyB. Budgeting & Forecasting
Work with Commercial team members and relevant stakeholders to build robust annual BudgetConduct analysis and modelling to inform Company target setting; build scenarios, consider longer term perspective, performance trendsUse performance insights and overall company requirements to provide robust Forecast updatesEngage with stakeholders to understand drivers of variations to Budget / ForecastsWork productively with stakeholders to develop clear mitigation plansC. Financial Modelling
Translate business processes and drivers into financial information that is easily understood and measuredUtilise data visualisation tools to communicate complex insightsMaintain and improve existing financial modelsD. Business Partnering
Build credible relationships with relevant stakeholders across the Company to drive commercial decision makingIdentify areas of opportunity and risk; work with stakeholders to develop plans to addressReview and prepare business cases to ensure commercially informed decisionsApply commercial thinking to provide pragmatic and informed solutions and ideas which meet Company and department needsParticipate in cross-group project teams as requiredKey Skills Qualifications & Experience
Prerequisite Skills :
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsMeticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reportingAdvanced Excel capability including complex modelling, reporting, and preferably query buildingProven experience in using large and complex data sets to transform them into relevant, insightful, and accessible insightsExceptional ability to manage multiple projects and able to multi-task while meeting deadlinesStrong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively with and influence diverse groups of peopleEducation / Qualifications / Memberships :
Bachelor of Commerce / Accounting is preferred however Bachelor of Science / Economics will also be accepted; andCPA / CMA qualified (Part Qualified accepted)Preferred Experience :
3 years in an accounting, FP&A, or commercial finance roleExperience in a complex, fast paced business environmentRetail / FMCG industry experience preferred, but not essentialProven experience as an effective business partnerPrior experience with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI and visual dashboards
