Job description

Role :

As the Team Leader for the Corporate Accounting team, you will be providing leadership on the workstream and assisting the functional manager in Sydney in effectively meeting deliverables and managing the team. You will be the contact person for corporate entities allocated, assist the Functional Manager who reports to the Financial Controller, in onboarding new group entities and taking responsibilities of the corporate entities and contribute to key projects. You will work with the Functional Manager and the Financial Controller on establishing and documenting robust internal control process and building a CoE for end-to-end accounting and reporting on the corporate entities. You are also responsible for leading the Finance Team and ensuring the accountants have the tools, support, and continued development for the team to meet their key performance indicators.

Leadership

  • Establish team excellence in your areas of team activities
  • Ensure that Employee Experience is fully optimised in all respects in the areas under direct control
  • Support and lead direct reports in the optimal direction and ensure ongoing development of individuals and the teams
  • Oversee the good health & wellbeing of all team members
  • Guide the training and development of the respective Finance Officers
  • Ensure KPIs are rolled out and feedback is provided on a regular basis through one-on-one discussions
  • Coaching employees through change, and ensuring employees are ready and resilient to change

Contribution to key projects

  • Contributing to the ERP implementation project (migration from Xero to Workday
  • Assist Functional Manager and Financial Controller in designing a robust control framework and process with new ERP system Workday
  • Assist Functional Manager and Financial Controller in onboarding new group entities and taking responsibilities of the corporate entities
  • Work with Functional Manager and Financial Controller on establishing and documenting robust internal control process
  • Key personnel for corporate entities

  • Being the key contact personnel for oversight and preparation as needed on all end-to-end process around corporate entities allocated, including bank recs, credit card reconciliation, AP processing and AR collection
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and reports
  • Balance sheet substantiations and P&L variance analysis
  • Actively involved in half year and full year audit including liaising with auditors
  • Assist in financial statement preparation
  • Preparation of quarterly compliance calculations
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly IAS and BAS workings
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting process
  • Actively involved in improving finance processes and ways of making processes more efficient
  • Liaise with external and internal senior stakeholders
  • Coordination of key processes and training of team members

  • Being subject matter expert and assisting Functional Manager for coordination of key processes including payment runs, reconciling credit card spendings, daily master account clearing and reconciliations, settlement fees, commissions calculations
  • Training of junior team members of the above key processes and be the first point of escalation for questions and issues

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • At least 3 years of experience in people-leadership
  • Background and working knowledge in Corporate Accounting, preferably with Australia-based companies
  • Good time management skills and able to manage multiple deadlines
  • Prior experience with asset management business / lending business preferred
  • Project management experience will be a plus
  • A team player who demonstrates enthusiasm and ethical behaviour and is accountable for tasks performed
  • Effective communications with stakeholders at all levels
