Bookkeeper Job Description

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records managing day-to-day accounting transactions and supporting the preparation of financial statements. This role requires strong attention to detail proficiency in Xero and QuickBooks and the ability to ensure financial data is accurate compliant and up to date. The Bookkeeper works closely with management and external accountants to support sound financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero and / or QuickBooks .

Record and reconcile daily transactions including income expenses bank feeds and credit card accounts.

Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements such as Profit & Loss Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports.

Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Manage accounts payable and receivable including invoicing billing and payment tracking.

Monitor expenses budgets and cash flow and report discrepancies or variances to management.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards internal policies and tax requirements.

Assist in preparing financial data for audits tax filings and external accountant reviews.

Maintain organized financial records documentation and supporting schedules.

Support process improvements to enhance efficiency accuracy and financial controls.

Requirements

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.

Strong proficiency in Xero and / or QuickBooks .

Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.

High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy.

Ability to work independently manage deadlines and handle confidential financial information.

Experience with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) is an advantage.
