We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Fire Protection Design Engineer to join our Building Services team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design of Fire Protection services for buildings of various types and classes and all associated systems.
- Lead and supervise the Fire Protection Engineering team to implement project objectives, plans and programs within the department as directed by management.
- Ensure that project designs / studies from clients comply with the applicable standards of the country of origin and project intent.
- Coordinate with local supply authorities to obtain approvals when necessary.
- Manage and maintain records of all drawings in accordance with WSP QA procedures.
- Liaise with WSP personnel, partners, affiliates and clients locally and internationally; coordinate with other disciplines of the design team.
- Manage and control outputs in line with the design works program.
- Attend meetings as required, including international meetings when applicable.
- Maintain professional behavior consistent with a member of WSP.
- Train and develop subordinates and the Fire Protection Engineering team.
- Prepare regular project status reports for management and keep abreast of technical updates to advise management.
- Assist in multidisciplinary project activities; use Fire Protection software and 3D modelling to develop fire system designs.
- Comply with all role-specific SHEQ obligations; apply safety in design processes on projects.
- Develop experience in managing small teams and contribute to building technical capability within the organization.
- Audit junior staff and review high-level technical reports; lead medium-sized multi-discipline projects.
- Other duties as required by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) is a plus.Experience, skills and organisational knowledge
At least 7 years of experience in a similar capacity.Knowledge in Wet and Dry Systems.AutoCAD and Revit experience is a plus.Working knowledge of WSP’s organizational capability and access to it.Working knowledge of systems, procedures and practices; risk management, ethics and safety.Experience in applying QA and OH&S systems; ability to monitor and manage scope across multiple projects.What we offer
