His or Her job is to provides care to patients with disorders of the brain and nervous system, which involves assessing neurological conditions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient status, and educating patients and their families. They manage neurological emergencies, maintain a safe patient environment, and document patient progress to ensure comprehensive care for individuals with conditions like stroke, brain injuries, or epilepsy.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment : Conduct detailed physical and neurological assessments to identify and track changes in a patient's condition.
Treatment Implementation : Administer medications, implement treatment plans, and manage side effects to achieve clinical goals.
Monitoring : Closely monitor patients' neurological activity and vital signs to recognize and respond to changes in status promptly.
Emergency Management : Manage and respond to neurological emergencies such as stroke or seizures, requiring rapid recognition and intervention.
Patient & Family Education : Provide education on the patient's condition, rehabilitation exercises, and care plans to support understanding and recovery.
Documentation : Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient assessments, interventions, and responses for the continuity of care.
Collaboration : Work with neurologists and other healthcare professionals to diagnose patients, develop treatment plans, and assist with procedures.
Environmental Safety : Implement safety measures, such as fall prevention strategies and assistive device use, to create a secure environment for patients with mobility issues.
Preventive Care : Implement measures to prevent complications common in neurological patients, including pressure ulcers, deep vein thrombosis, and pneumonia.
