The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day procurement activities of the company. The Purchasing Supervisor also supervises the purchasing team, coordinates with suppliers, and collaborates with other departments to support operational requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the purchasing team in handling procurement activities.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to achieve cost savings and ensure timely delivery.
- Review, evaluate, and approve purchase requisitions and orders.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and high-quality products / services.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure reliability and consistency in supply.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to delivery delays, quality concerns, or contract terms.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, budget guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and documentation for audit and tracking purposes.
- Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Coordinate with various departments (operations, finance, warehouse, etc.) to determine purchasing needs and priorities.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate purchasing staff to ensure professional growth and efficiency.
- Participate in budget planning, forecasting, and procurement cost analysis.
- Handle escalated issues or disputes with suppliers in a professional and timely manner.
