Job Summary
The Chief Medical Technologist is responsible for the overall daily operation, technical quality, and regulatory compliance of the MTG Medical Clinic Inc. Clinical Laboratory. This is a crucial leadership role that ensures the provision of accurate and timely diagnostic results while maintaining the highest standards required by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Key Responsibilities and Duties
I. Regulatory and Quality Assurance Leadership
DOH Compliance and Licensing : Serve as the primary point person for DOH licensing and renewal. Prepare, organize, and submit all necessary documentary requirements for the clinical laboratory's annual license to operate (LTO).
Quality Management System (QMS) : Design, implement, and monitor a robust Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) program across all laboratory sections, ensuring adherence to national standards (e.g., NEQAS).
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) : Develop, review, and ensure strict compliance with all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases.
Audit Readiness : Lead internal audits and prepare the laboratory for external inspections and assessments from regulatory bodies (DOH, PRC, etc.).
II. Operational and Technical Oversight
Supervision : Oversee the day-to-day workflow, scheduling, and activities of all Medical Technologists and laboratory staff.
Test Procedures : Ensure high proficiency in performing and supervising a wide range of diagnostic tests (Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Fecalysis, Serology, etc.).
Equipment Management : Coordinate the installation, validation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment and instruments.
Inventory and Procurement : Manage the laboratory's inventory of reagents, consumables, and supplies, coordinating with vendors to ensure cost-efficiency and uninterrupted operations.
III. Personnel Management and Development
Staff Training and Competency : Conduct orientation, training, and regular competency assessments for all laboratory personnel.
Performance Management : Evaluate staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and recommend disciplinary action or rewards in coordination with the Clinic Director.
Team Leadership : Foster a positive, professional, and ethical working environment, promoting teamwork and continuous professional development for staff.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Education : Must possess a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Medical Technology from a recognized educational institution.
License : Must have a current and unrestricted Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) License as a Registered Medical Technologist.
Experience :
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a diagnostic clinical laboratory.
Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in supervising the entire operations of a diagnostic clinical laboratory, ensuring seamless workflow and compliance across all sections
Core Competencies :
Extensive knowledge on laboratory operations and the principles of various clinical laboratory disciplines.
Highly Proficient and detail-oriented in technical work, data analysis, and documentation.
Extensive knowledge on DOH compliance requirements for the establishment and license renewal of a clinical laboratory in the Philippines.
