The client is a well-established Australian company specializing in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions for both residential and commercial clients. The HVAC Design & Estimating Coordinator will support technical operations by preparing HVAC system plans and quotes using platforms like Plandroid , SimPro , and Estimate One . You will be responsible for generating system layouts, performing calculations, and quoting based on architectural drawings for both domestic and commercial applications. This is a highly technical and detail-oriented position that blends drafting , estimating , and administrative support .
JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES :
HVAC System Design & Drafting
Use Plandroid or CDA-equivalent tools to import and scale architectural floor plans.
Accurately place HVAC components (e.g., grilles, ducts, and units) using drag-and-drop functionality.
Run load calculations and generate reports / system diagrams.
Apply knowledge of ASHRAE standards and Australian building codes (e.g., AS 1668).
Interpret mechanical tender drawings and apply design best practices.
Estimating & Scope Preparation
Use SimPro to prepare accurate quotes and scope of works based on layout designs.
Input project data, labor estimates, and materials for submission and client review.
Collaborate with the operations and sales teams to ensure accuracy of bids.
Technical & Admin Support
Prepare and organize project documentation for internal and external use.
Maintain records of completed projects, revisions, and scope changes.
Track changes in building codes, HVAC standards, and industry tools.
Requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
We are looking for someone who has :
2–5+ years of experience in HVAC design , engineering , or estimation .
Familiarity with Plandroid , SimPro , Estimate 1 , and Tenders VIC is a strong advantage.
Strong ability to read and interpret floor plans , architectural layouts , and technical drawings .
Proficient understanding of :
Duct sizing and balancing
Load calculation principles
Ventilation and airflow design
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in layout and estimation
Methodical and detail-oriented , with a structured work style.
Proactive and solution-oriented , able to spot design issues and suggest fixes.
Organized , self-disciplined, and consistent in managing tasks.
Strong communicator with clear, concise verbal and written English.
Open to feedback and capable of adapting to client-specific processes.
