OVERVIEW

The Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (Sedfa) invites qualified candidates to apply for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position, reporting to the Sedfa CEO. The CFO will drive efforts to coordinate financial resources, practices, and initiatives aligned with Sedfa’s mandate, ensuring the financial growth and sustainability of small enterprises to contribute to a transformed and inclusive economy. The CFO will strategically guide and implement financial accounting, management accounting, and supply chain strategies for Sedfa’s business units and subsidiaries, introducing suitable financial systems, processes, policies, and internal controls in compliance with the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and relevant legislation. Sedfa plays a significant role in South Africa’s economic policy landscape.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Provide strategic direction for financial management and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Ensure budget processes align with strategic planning and performance outcomes.
  • Develop and implement policies, processes, and standard operating procedures for the division.
  • Lead management accounting and budget management strategies.
  • Oversee financial reporting and analysis for the organization’s financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and timely reporting.
  • Analyze financial performance and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee supply chain management services.
  • Ensure adherence to reporting timelines.
  • Embed risk, compliance, and audit practices across processes and systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

NQF Level 9 in BCom Accounting; CA(SA) qualification is an advantage.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10+ years in financial management and administration, including at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, revenue, working capital, and cash flow management.
  • Ability to advise the CEO and Board on financial matters.
  • Experience in stakeholder relationship management, including with shareholders, bankers, auditors, and regulators.
  • Extensive knowledge of IFRS, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams, analyze ROI, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated financial leadership and policy setting.
  • Understanding of Corporate Governance (King IV) and Risk Management.
  • Extensive leadership and management experience.
