Our client is a fast-growing, medium-sized organisation seeking a dynamic Head of HR & Marketing to join their leadership team. This is a hybrid role that combines deep HR expertise (with Australian experience, including working with unions and navigating complex awards) with hands-on marketing leadership. The ideal candidate will pair formal HR training with practical marketing and communications experience gained in a scaling start-up environment.
You will be both strategic and hands-on—capable of building processes, leading teams, and rolling up your sleeves when needed.
Responsibilities
- Human Resources (People Leadership) - Lead all HR functions across the business, including workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, and compliance.
- Provide expert guidance on Australian employment law, awards, and union negotiations.
- Design and implement scalable HR processes for recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, and retention.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on culture, engagement, and people strategy.
- Build systems to support international teams while ensuring alignment with Australian standards.
Marketing & Communications
Own the company’s brand, corporate communications, and external positioning.Lead marketing strategy and execution across digital, social, PR, and field marketing channels.Manage internal communications to ensure alignment with organisational priorities.Oversee content creation, campaigns, and community engagement, including paid social media strategy.Collaborate with sales and leadership to deliver consistent messaging and growth-oriented campaigns.Requirements
5+ years of combined experience in HR and marketing, including leadership responsibilities.Strong Australian HR background, with proven experience in union and award negotiations.Demonstrated marketing experience in a fast-growing start-up or scale-up environment.Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on, execution-focused approach.Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills.Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.Preferred : APAC-based expat with Australian HR experience.What They Offer
