The Senior VoIP Engineer (Porting Specialist) is responsible for designing, configuring, and deploying VoIP system, including PBX, SIP trunks, and call management tools, while ensuring seamless integration with existing IT and network infrastructure. The role focuses on managing number porting processes, monitoring and maintaining VoIP performance, and troubleshooting complex connectivity, call quality, and protocol-related issues. This position also requires implementing security measures, optimising system reliability, and leveraging monitoring tools to proactively resolve issues.
- Design, configure, and deploy VoIP systems, including PBX, SIP trunks, IP phones, call servers, and call management software.
- Integrate VoIP solutions with existing IT and network infrastructure.
- Monitor and maintain VoIP systems to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Troubleshoot VoIP issues related to connectivity, call quality, registration, latency, jitter, and packet loss.
- Manage incidents and service requests related to VoIP, escalating as needed.
- Develop and implement security protocols for VoIP systems.
- Optimise system settings for improved call quality, reliability, and security.
- Utilise network monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Create and maintain documentation for VoIP configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Other position-level duties as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in VoIP engineering, networking, or a similar role.Experience with cloud-based telephony solutions, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and WebEx.Proficiency in configuring and managing VoIP equipment, PBX, and SIP trunks.Strong knowledge of TCP / IP, LAN, WAN, VPN, and network security.Strong understanding of VoIP protocols such as SIP, RTP, H.323, and MGCP.Experience with VoIP platforms (e.g.Microsoft Teams Voice) and network management tools.Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network and VoIP issues.Excellent communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.Benefits
