Position Title: Senior Accountant
Work Set-up: Work From Home or Office
Salary: Php 80,000 - Php 120,000
Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PH Time
We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team supporting a reputable Australian accounting firm. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in Australian taxation and business services, strong technical expertise, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the client’s accounting team.
You’ll handle end-to-end accounting functions — from preparing financial statements and tax returns to managing reconciliations, compliance, and tax planning for complex client groups.
Responsibilities as a Senior Accountant:
• Perform general reconciliations of client data and maintain accurate electronic workpapers.
• Prepare and reconcile accounts for financial statement preparation, including aged debtors, aged creditors, payroll, superannuation, GST, and bank accounts.
• Set up new assets in the asset register with correct tax and accounting treatment.
• Prepare HP schedules, FBT reimbursements, add-backs, and franking accounts.
• Handle GST reconciliations, identify issues, and prepare amended BAS when needed.
• Complete non-distributable surplus calculations, inter-entity loan reconciliations, and Division 7A loan agreements.
• Prepare financial statements and income tax returns in Xero, including mapping, trust distribution journals, and tax vs accounting reconciliations.
• Manage payroll using Xero or MYOB, identifying wage or superannuation discrepancies and preparing ATO SGC statements as required.
• Support complex client groups (companies, trusts, individuals, SMSFs) with turnover over $10M, ensuring accuracy and identifying opportunities for tax improvement.
• Apply small business CGT concessions and assess client eligibility with minimal assistance.
• Ensure compliance with Division 7A, FBT, GST, and CGT requirements.
Qualifications as a Senior Accountant:
• Degree in Accounting, and CPA/CA qualification (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5+ years of Australian taxation and business services experience in a public practice or outsourced services firm.
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting and tax legislation.
• Proficient in Xero Tax, Xero Bookkeeping, MYOB AccountRight, GreatSoft, FYI, ATO Portal, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
