I. Office Overview

The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ensures the organization’s fiscal health by leading all financial planning, budgeting, accounting, investment, and compliance functions. It safeguards resources, monitors revenues and expenditures, and delivers accurate, transparent financial reporting to support strategic decision-making.

The office coordinates with all departments to align financial activities with corporate goals, manages funding and capital requirements, evaluates growth opportunities, and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory standards. Working closely with the CEO and Board of Directors, it drives sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and sound fiscal governance.

II. Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for ensuring the organization’s fiscal health and providing strategic leadership over financial operations, compliance, and planning. This role builds and leads a high-performing finance and accounting team, supports business growth initiatives, oversees investment and funding activities, and partners with the CEO and Board of Directors to guide long-term financial strategy.

III. Key Accountabilities

Budgeting & Forecasting

Lead the development of the annual corporate budget, rolling forecasts, and multi-year plans.

Coordinate with all business units to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Ensure all financial plans reflect realistic market and operational assumptions.

Financial Analysis & Business Insights

Conduct profitability, cost, and trend analyses to identify improvement opportunities.

Prepare competitor and market benchmarking studies.

Recommend actions that drive growth and cost optimization.

Strategic Advisory to Leadership & Board of Directors

Serve as a strategic partner to the Board and C-suite.

Provide scenario modeling, investment appraisals, and risk-reward analyses.

Support strategic initiatives with financial feasibility studies.

Performance Monitoring & KPI Management

Define and track company-wide financial KPIs.

Maintain dashboards that provide timely visibility into performance.

Partner with leaders to ensure KPI-driven decision-making.

Risk Management & Financial Control Support

Identify potential financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and compliance requirements.

Monitor macroeconomic factors that may impact company performance.

Investment & Capital Planning

Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and ROI analyses.

Monitor capital deployment against strategic priorities.

Advise on optimal funding and capital allocation strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnering

Build strong relationships with business unit leaders to align strategies.

Act as a financial coach to non-financial managers.

Facilitate cross-functional collaboration for strategic initiatives.

Market Intelligence & External Benchmarking

Track industry trends, competitor movements, and macroeconomic indicators.

Translate market insights into strategic financial recommendations.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

Lead and mentor a team of finance and accounting professionals.

Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Ensure succession planning and skill-building for critical FP&A roles.

IV. HSE Accountabilities / Job Authority

Support the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs.

Ensure that business continuity plans and risk management frameworks include provisions for workplace safety, cybersecurity resilience, and environmental considerations.

Ensure all decisions comply with company policies and procedures.

Approve budgets, capital expenditures, and investments within delegated limits.

Decide on strategic partnerships and divestitures (subject to Board approval).

Determine allocation of financial resources to support corporate priorities and risk management.

Perform other related tasks as required by immediate superior.

V. Physical Effort

Requires strong mental focus, attention to detail, and critical thinking.

Physical demands are moderate, consisting primarily of sitting, standing, walking, and conducting meetings or training sessions.

Must be able to see and hear in the normal range and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Must have the stamina to work long hours and irregular schedules when needed, including weekends and holidays.

VI. Work Environment

Operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

The role is largely sedentary but requires regular interaction and communication.

Frequent travel may be expected for board meetings, investor relations, industry events, or site inspections.

VIII. Qualifications

Educational Background

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration required.

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field preferred.

Certifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or equivalent professional certification required.

Additional certifications in corporate governance, risk management, or strategic finance are an advantage.

Professional Experience

Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.

At least 10 years in a senior leadership role overseeing financial operations, strategy, and governance.

Proven track record in managing large-scale budgets, investments, and cross-functional financial teams.

Experience in fintech, financial services, or other high-growth, technology-driven industries preferred.

Strong background in financial planning and analysis, audit and compliance, and risk management.

Technical & Managerial Skills

In-depth understanding of corporate finance, financial modeling, and capital structuring.

Proficient in ERP systems, financial dashboards, and advanced Excel modeling.

Strong grasp of local and international financial regulations and compliance frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to manage investor relations, fundraising, and capital allocation strategies.

Proven leadership in driving organizational transformation and process optimization.
