Key Responsibilities:
Independent Design: Develop 3D models of complex machinery from basic briefs with zero supervision.
Simulation & Validation: Conduct FEA using Nastran to identify stress concentrations and optimize material usage.
Manufacturing Documentation: Produce “Shop Ready” fabrication drawings including weld symbols, tolerances, and BOMs.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet Australian Standards (AS/NZS).
Quality Control: Perform self-checks to keep revision hours near zero, ensuring minimal re-work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Required).
Minimum 7+ years of mechanical design experience.
Advanced expertise in Autodesk Inventor (5+ years daily use; proficient in iLogic, Sheet Metal, and Weldment modules).
Advanced experience with Nastran FEA (3+ years; capable of linear and non-linear stress analysis and design optimization).
Industry experience in Heavy Machinery & Earthmoving (chassis, booms, attachments), Pressure Vessels & Tanks (AS1210 or API650), and Cranes & Lifting Equipment (AS1418).
Strong structural analysis skills and ability to verify FEA results with manual calculations.
Fluent English (written and verbal) for technical communication with Australian-based engineers.
