Ready to do work that actually excites you?
We are seeking mid to senior Piping Designers/Drafters to deliver high-quality 3D piping models and 2D piping deliverables for mineral processing and mining infrastructure projects. You will work within multidisciplinary project teams to model, coordinate, and document process and services piping systems across plant areas such as crushing, milling, screening, flotation/leach, thickening/filtration, tails, reagent systems, water services, and pumping facilities.
What You'll Do:
You'll be the kind of person who:
3D piping design & modelling
- Develop and maintain 3D piping models primarily using AutoCAD Plant 3D (AEC Collection) in accordance with project standards and client requirements.
- Model piping layouts including line routing, tie-ins, equipment/nozzle connections, pipe supports interfaces (where defined), and spatial coordination with structural, mechanical, and E&I.
- Incorporate vendor package information (e.g., pumps, cyclones, screens, mills, tanks, skids) and ensure constructible routing and access.
- 2D deliverables & documentation
- Produce project deliverables such as piping GA drawings, isometrics, spool drawings (where applicable), tie-in drawings, plot plans, and orthographic views as required by the project scope.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and issue packages in line with document management workflows.
P&IDs / PFDs
- Draft and update PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) in line with engineering markups and project standards, including stream numbers, equipment/valve/instrumentation tags, line numbering and revision control.
Coordination & constructability
- Coordinate clashes and interfaces across disciplines using model review tools and project workflows.
- Participate in model reviews, respond to markups, and support internal QA checks to ensure drawing/model quality.
- Support engineering and site teams by responding to design queries and RFIs as required.
Requirements
What You Bring:
We're looking for someone who:
Plant 3D administration
- Configure and maintain Plant 3D project setup, including spec creation/management, catalog management, and custom component/valve generation (as required)
- Support standardisation and continuous improvement of Plant 3D templates, layers, styles, and project deliverable settings. Required experience & capability (mid / senior)
- Demonstrated piping design experience on heavy industrial / mining / mineral processing projects (preferred).
- Strong understanding of piping layout principles including constructability, maintenance access, drainage/venting considerations, tie-ins, and practical routing in congested plant environments.
- Ability to work from P&IDs, equipment layouts, vendor data, and engineering markups, and to coordinate effectively with engineers and other disciplines.
- Comfortable working to deadlines, managing priorities, and (senior level) supporting/mentoring other designers.
Software
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D (AEC Collection) — 3D modelling & 2D deliverables essential.
- Experience with any of the following is highly regarded: Navisworks, Autocad Advance Steel, BIM/ACC document workflows, and related plant design/model coordination tools, Bentley OpenPlant.
Qualifications
- Technical qualification in drafting/design (e.g., Cert/Diploma in Engineering Drafting/Design) or equivalent practical experience.
Personal attributes
- High attention to detail and a strong “buildable model” mindset.
