Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Facility Lead, Structural / Paint to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia. The Facility Lead, Structural / Paint will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of structural and painted facilities, systems, and equipment, ensuring all assets remain in good condition, preventing deterioration, and ensuring full life expectancy through timely corrections of deficiencies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of structures and painted surfaces in all facilities and systems specified in the technical sub-annex.
- Perform structural repairs, painting, and preventative maintenance to ensure facilities and structures are preserved and protected against environmental exposure and wear and tear.
- Monitor and assess the condition of buildings, structures, and painted surfaces to identify and address damage, deterioration, peeling, rust, and other deficiencies.
- Ensure all maintenance and painting work is performed to prevent unnecessary deterioration beyond normal wear and tear, extending the lifespan of all assets.
- Plan and manage repair schedules, prioritize work orders, and allocate resources to meet operational deadlines and contract requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate structural and painting maintenance and repairs.
- Supervise and guide a team of skilled workers, providing oversight for structural repairs, refinishing, and painting tasks.
- Apply protective coatings such as paints, stains, and sealants to surfaces, ensuring proper preparation, application, and durability.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and materials to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance, repair, and painting activities within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Adhere to safety practices when utilizing tools, equipment, and materials used for painting, repairs, and maintenance.
- Conduct inspections and audits in accordance with contract standards to ensure facilities and systems remain compliant with government regulations and policies.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience in structural maintenance, facility painting, or rehabilitation, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or vocational training in painting, construction, or structural maintenance is highly preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in structural repair and painting techniques, including surface preparation, coating, and finishing.
- Familiarity with maintenance and repair tasks for diverse types of structures, including preventing deterioration of building components, facades, and exterior surfaces.
- Experience working with various paints, stains, coatings, and finishes to enhance durability and visual appeal.
- Knowledge of safety standards, hazardous materials handling, and environmental compliance specific to structural and painting activities.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs using computerized systems.
- Proficient in the use of tools and equipment involved in structural repairs and painting, such as sprayers, brushes, rollers, and sanders.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and stakeholders.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver’s license and passport.
- Country visa (as required in line with the Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
- Knowledge of facility structural and painting standards in military or government-maintained facilities.
- Certifications in painting, structural repairs, or coatings application.
- Familiarity with military or government regulations for facility systems maintenance and repair requirements.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, design plans, and maintenance guidelines related to structural systems and facilities painting.
- Proven experience in managing teams while handling complex repair and maintenance operations.
