We are seeking an Estimator (Painting & Coatings | Commercial Projects) to take the lead in preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions. In this role, you will interpret drawings and specifications, perform digital take-offs using PlanSwift, and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure accurate pricing. You will also prepare bills of quantities, identify risks or scope gaps, and support the project team to ensure estimates align with successful delivery.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for commercial painting projects.
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Use PlanSwift software to perform digital take-offs and measurements with precision.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing for materials and labour.
- Prepare bills of quantities and scopes of work for inclusion in tenders and contracts.
- Work closely with the operations and project delivery teams to ensure consistency between estimates and project execution.
- Identify and assess risks, exclusions, and scope gaps during the estimating process.
- Maintain and update pricing databases and estimating tools.
- Attend pre-tender meetings, site visits, and client briefings as required.
- Monitor market trends, pricing changes, and competitor activity.
- Other role-specific duties as they arise.
Requirements
Qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related trade / technical discipline is desirable.Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial painting estimating within the construction industry.Strong experience using PlanSwift for digital take-offs and cost planning.Solid understanding of commercial painting systems, surface preparation, coatings, and application methods.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scope documentation.Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other estimating tools.Knowledge of NSW construction industry standards and subcontractor networks is highly regarded.Benefits
