The Commercial Operations Head is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of commercial activities including electricity trading, contract management, billing and settlement, and customer account strategy. This role ensures compliance with market regulations, optimizes revenue streams, and supports the companys long-term growth through effective customer engagement and trading strategy. The role provides strategic leadership to cross-functional teams and ensures alignment with regulatory and business objectives.
KEY FUNCTIONS / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Trading Strategy and Operations Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight of electricity trading and scheduling operations across WESM and bilateral markets.
- Develop and monitor trading strategies to optimize margins and manage market risks.
- Ensure compliance with market rules (PEMC / IEMOP), ERC regulations, and grid protocols (NGCP).
- Lead collaboration with trading, risk management, and regulatory teams to assess market positions and opportunities.
Billing, Settlement, and Revenue Assurance
Oversee accurate and timely billing, settlement reconciliation, and revenue tracking across all power customers.Approve large-value transactions and settlements in coordination with Finance.Address escalated billing disputes and manage exposure to financial and regulatory penalties.Contract and Customer Management
Lead the commercial negotiations of Power Supply Agreements (PSAs), Retail Supply Contracts (RSCs), and ancillary service agreements.Maintain relationships with major customers, RES partners, and utilities.Ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations and alignment with trading strategy.Regulatory Compliance and Industry Representation
Serve as the primary liaison with ERC, DOE, and IEMOP on commercial and compliance matters.Monitor changes in regulatory frameworks and assess their impact on commercial operations.Represent the company in industry associations and regulatory consultations.Team Leadership and Strategic Planning
Lead and develop a high-performing commercial operations team (trading, billing, contracts).Define departmental KPIs and performance goals.Drive innovation and digital transformation in commercial processes.
