Role Description

The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s database systems. The role ensures data integrity, security, and high availability while supporting development teams and business applications with database expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database management systems (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar).
• Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance for reliability and scalability.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Ensure data security and compliance, managing user access and permissions.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize stored procedures, triggers, views, and queries.
• Collaborate with developers and IT teams to support application database needs.
• Conduct database health checks, capacity planning, and performance analysis.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in development, testing, and production environments.
• Document database architecture, processes, and maintenance procedures.
• Mentor and guide junior DBAs or team members on best practices and standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Strong experience with RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar).
• Proficient in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and query optimization.

Requirements

• Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• Familiarity with performance tuning, monitoring tools, and automation scripts.
• Knowledge of security standards and compliance (e.g., GDPR, ISO).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) is a plus.
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle DBA Certified Professional, or similar.
