The Operations Director oversees all technical, production, and engineering functions within the packaging manufacturing facility. This role ensures that machines, production processes, and technical systems operate efficiently, safely, and at optimum performance. The position drives continuous improvement, operational excellence, and supports strategic business goals through strong technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical & Production Leadership
Oversee daily manufacturing operations including production, engineering, maintenance, and quality technical support.
Ensure high output, efficiency, and product consistency across printing, laminating, slitting, extrusion, and other packaging processes.
Optimize machine capabilities and ensure maximum uptime through effective planning and preventive maintenance.
2. Strategic Planning & Operational Excellence
Develop and implement long-term operational strategies aligned with company goals.
Lead capacity planning, plant layout optimization, and equipment modernization initiatives.
Utilize data-driven approaches to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall plant performance (LEAN, Kaizen, Six Sigma).
3. Engineering & Equipment Management
Provide technical oversight for all machinery and equipment used in packaging manufacturing.
Lead installation, commissioning, and validation of new machines.
Ensure proper preventive and predictive maintenance systems to avoid downtime.
4. Quality & Process Control
Collaborate with the Quality Department to maintain high product standards.
Ensure technical compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
Implement process controls, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans to address quality deviations.
5. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure engineering and operations activities comply with safety, DOLE, DENR, and Fire Code requirements.
Champion machine safety, LOTO procedures, and risk mitigation plans.
Promote a strong safety culture throughout the technical and production teams.
6. Budgeting & Cost Control
Manage the operations budget for production, engineering, and technical projects.
Evaluate cost-saving opportunities through improved yield, reduced downtime, and machine efficiency.
Oversee vendor management for spare parts, consumables, and capital equipment.
7. People Management & Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and Technical Teams.
Oversee manpower planning, performance evaluation, and technical skills development.
Build a high-performing operations team aligned with productivity and quality goals.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Supply Chain, Planning, QA, Sales, and Customer Service for smooth order fulfillment.
Support sales teams with technical expertise during customer visits or audits.
Participate in management meetings for operational planning and reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage.
Minimum 5–10 years experience in packaging manufacturing (flexible packaging, printing, laminates, paperboard, or related industry).
Strong background in production, engineering, and process optimization.
Proven leadership in a senior operations or technical management role.
Expertise in LEAN Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
