Job descriptionDiploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license. 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred. Experience in ophthalmology or outpatient surgical care is an advantage. Knowledge of eye anatomy, common eye conditions, and treatments. Skilled in administering eye drops, injections, and assisting in eye procedures. Excellent interpersonal and patient education skills. Strong organizational and documentation abilities. Basic computer proficiency, especially with electronic medical records (EMR). Ability to remain calm in urgent situations and multitask effectively.
Job description
- Assist with eye exams, diagnostic tests, and minor surgical procedures.
- Administer prescribed eye medications and monitor patient responses.
- Educate patients on medications, procedures, post-treatment care, and eye health.
- Prepare surgical and procedure rooms; ensure sterile conditions and proper equipment setup.
- Monitor and record patients’ vital signs and medical history.
- Assist in the preparation and recovery of patients before and after eye surgeries (cataract surgery).
- Maintain accurate patient records and uphold confidentiality protocols.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and clinical safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the ophthalmology team to enhance patient care quality.
- Perform admin function as may be required
- Performs other related duties as required
