Overview

Senior Technical Recruiter at ING

  • Technology, Cloud, Infrastructure and Operations (I&O). The Cloud Solution Architect role focuses on designing and overseeing the architecture of scalable, reliable, and secure cloud platforms that support business applications and services. This position collaborates with engineering, operations, and product teams to define cloud and platform strategies, ensure seamless system integrations, and optimize performance across cloud and hybrid environments.

Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of modern software architecture are essential. The team coordinates with C-level leadership to shape technology strategy and guides engineers to achieve set ambitions. The group comprises architects with diverse technologies and backgrounds to respond to market developments and regulatory changes over the mid to long term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design end-to-end technical solutions that align with business needs, industry best practices, and technology standards
  • Develop cloud architecture focusing on infrastructure, engineering, and observability; design scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions
  • Develop long-term cloud and hybrid cloud strategy aligned with business goals
  • Architect platforms that are highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable for large enterprise transaction volume
  • Ensure integration, operation, and deployment of services with a focus on Cloud resources, DevOps pipelines, security tooling, observability, Linux environments, data and data archival systems, microservices, web application firewalls, APIs, and third-party services
  • Collaborate with product managers and influence development priorities
  • Lead in documentation of features, solutions, technical initiatives, and product designs across physical, logical, functional, and network dimensions
  • Maintain subject matter expertise on existing ING systems, integrations, networks, products, and Azure services
  • Participate in architectural boards to review and govern architectural practices
  • Collaborate with teams to implement and refine architectural designs, including feedback loops during development
  • Adhere to ING policies and complete mandatory training

    • Key Capabilities / Experience

  • Experience deploying, maintaining, and operating cloud services and applications
  • Experience with Azure and / or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience deploying resources with major cloud providers; knowledge of hosting options, compute, networking, databases, containers
  • Knowledge of cloud best practices : policies, IaC, IAM, monitoring, data protection, disaster recovery, business continuity, compliance
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Automation and DevOps methods (CI / CD, IaC)
  • Knowledge of RDBMS (Postgres, MS SQL) and related technologies
  • Knowledge of event-based or message-based systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AMQP)
  • Experience with architectural modeling (C4, ArchiMate, UML, ERDs)
  • Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle and practices
  • InfRA tooling experience (Linux OS, application servers, hosting options)

    • Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in web or software development, with at least 2 years in an architect role
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with large stakeholder groups; proficient in English for technical discussions
  • Documentation and presentation skills for communicating designs to diverse audiences
  • Action-oriented, decisive, and willing to take a hands-on role to meet deliverables
  • Analytical mindset with curiosity about technology
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural team and willingness for international travel

  • Experience migrating workloads to public cloud
  • Experience with Java-based enterprise and distributed systems, microservice design and deployment
  • Experience with regulatory, compliance, and policy matters in system design, especially in financial settings
