Job Summary
The Offensive Security Officer is responsible for planning, documenting, and executing penetration testing and ethical hacking activities across network infrastructure, application systems, and mobile applications. The role involves identifying security weaknesses, collaborating with IT teams to address vulnerabilities, and establishing red team procedures for simulated attack exercises.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform threat analysis, wireless network assessments, and social-engineering assessments, including physical security tests.
Conduct security scans and execute manual and automated hacking techniques on infrastructure, systems, web, and mobile applications.
Evade intrusion detection / prevention systems, firewalls, and honeypots to assess effectiveness.
Identify attack vectors and entry points used by potential adversaries.
Develop abuse cases, testing methodologies, and enhance penetration testing tools / scripts.
Document findings, prepare reports, and present remediation strategies to technical and executive stakeholders.
Provide feedback on information security fixes and propose improvements to existing security policies, systems, and procedures.
Stay up to date on malware trends, new attack vectors, and penetration testing tools.
Support cybersecurity investigations and contribute to information security governance, risk, and compliance activities.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related technical field.
Strong understanding of vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and an attacker mindset.
Proficiency with OWASP Top 10 Application Security best practices.
Relevant certifications such as OSCP, CEH, SANS GPEN, GWAP, or equivalent.
Technical expertise in ethical hacking, forensics, reverse engineering, web applications, databases, and wireless technologies.
Scripting / programming skills to develop or adapt testing tools.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts clearly.
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to lead security initiatives.
Self-driven, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
