Australian Tax Accountant – Trusts, Companies, Partnerships & BAS Compliance
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare income tax returns and financial statements for:
Companies
Trusts (discretionary and unit trusts)
Partnerships
Group structures and inter-entity relationships
Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), including:
GST reconciliation
PAYG Withholding
PAYG Installment
Ensure compliance with Australian taxation legislation, ATO requirements, and accounting standards
Assist with year-end compliance processes, including work-paper preparation and reconciliations
Liaise with internal teams and/or clients to obtain information and clarify tax and accounting matters
Identify and escalate tax issues, anomalies, or compliance risks as required
Maintain accurate and well-documented working papers in line with firm standards
Qualifications & Required Experience:
Minimum 3+ years’ experience at an Australian accounting firm
Hands-on experience preparing:
Company tax returns and financial statements
Trust and partnership tax returns
Consolidated or group-based structures
Strong BAS experience, including GST and PAYG obligations
Solid understanding of Australian tax law and compliance requirements
Proficient with Australian accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, XPM, APS)
