Head of Credit Research

About the role

Lead the credit research function at AIA Philippines, a leading life insurance provider in the Philippines. This full-time role will be based in our office in Makati City, Metro Manila. As the Credit Research Head, you will be responsible for providing portfolio managers with advice and asset allocation strategies to support investment decisions in fixed-income instruments.

Candidates must have legal right to work in the Philippines.

What you'll be doing

Analyse the overall financial strength and repayment capability of potential investments, especially with respect to credit rating.

Conduct research and prepare reports covering economic and market trends.

Construct asset allocation models.

Supervise and assess numerous data sources, industry sectors, asset classes, credit limits, and credit risk issues, and recommend asset allocation strategies to fixed-income portfolio management.

Maintain and regularly update obligor database as well as surveillance of Credit Watch List for deteriorating obligors.

Work closely with the Fixed Income Portfolio Management Team for credit valuations and with the Dealing Team for accreditation and review of local and foreign fixed income and equity brokers.

Attend and lead weekly meetings with PMs, traders, and analysts, and participate in weekly credit meetings with Group Investment.

Collaborate with AIA Group Investments and COEs to align credit research strategies, procedures, and standard methodologies, and ensure compliance with AIA investment policies and guidelines.

Collaborate with other departments and collaborators to meet Investments-related requirements.

Continuously develop fundamental and technical skills to aid credit research capabilities. Attend market / economic or product briefings and similar functions, and ensure awareness and preparedness to respond and adapt to financial market changes and developments.

Perform other responsibilities and duties as may be periodically assigned.

What we're looking for

Extensive experience in credit analysis, investment research, or a similar role in the banking and financial services industry.

Minimum 7-10 years of credit analysis or investment research experience.

Strong understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies and investment analysis techniques.

Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex credit insights.

Proven ability to think critically, identify key risks and opportunities, and provide practical recommendations.

Experience leading and developing a team of credit research professionals.

Minimum 3-5 years of team leadership experience is required.

Proficiency in using financial data and modelling tools.

Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
