GBSC-Senior SQL Developer

Summary

Under general direction of the Head of TPA and Affinity Systems, the SQL Developer is responsible for the development, configuration and maintenance of the database driven claims management system. This involves introducing a range new and often bespoke functionality including scheduled reporting and data import tasks (SSRS/SSIS) and front end system modifications (T/SQL). This also includes day to day maintenance, modification and performance improvement as well as onboarding new clients/products into our portfolio.

Job Scope

• Builds, develops and modifies database driven system and functionality
• Applies quality and performance design principals always bearing in mind the needs of the users.
• Works with clients and key stakeholders to establish and deliver requirements
• Provides accurate estimates for the time required for creation of database code and then deliver accordingly.
• Translates internal business requirements into technical requirements, in conjunction with specialist business analysts.
• Identifies and resolve bugs
• Creates and updates reports
• Provides succinct updates on progress to the Project Managers and Head of TPA Systems and to contribute with creative programmatic solutions as appropriate.
• Supports testing
• Arranges releases
• Upholds the Crawford Code of Conduct

Functional Knowledge

• High school diploma; College or technical school experience preferred
• At least 7-10 years in-depth experience as a Database Analyst Programmer
• MS SQL Server T-SQL (advanced stored procedures, functions, triggers, CTE, Window Functions, error handling) across SQL 2012/2014
• Query Performance Optimisation
• MS SQL Server Integration Services
• ETL design, development and implementation
• MS SQL Reporting Services
• Change Management Procedures
• Compliance to Data Governance policies
• Preferred:
• JSON and XML data formatsBusiness Process Management (BPM) systemsTableau / Cognos / Power View Reporting and VisualisationsExperience in maintaining and troubleshooting Dynamic SQLKnowledge of non-Microsoft tools such as Redgate, Idera, APEXSQL etc.General database administration (backups / optimisation / troubleshooting)Subversion source control
