Job Summary
The QA / QC Engineer (HVAC) ensures that all Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning works comply with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements. The role involves developing and implementing quality systems, conducting inspections and testing, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and ensuring proper documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Review HVAC drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance.
- Conduct inspections for installation of HVAC systems such as ductwork, piping, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF / VRV systems, exhaust systems, and controls.
- Monitor material deliveries, verify compliance with approved material submittals.
- Develop project-specific QA / QC plans, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), checklists, method statements, and procedures.
- Maintain quality records including inspection reports, test results, and as-built documentation.
- Liaise with project managers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors for technical and quality-related issues.
- Ensure HVAC works comply with local codes, industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASTM), and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality on site.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement quality enhancement measures.
- Provide technical guidance and training for site staff regarding quality standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.Typically 1-2+ years of experience in QA / QC rolesExperience in HVAC industry is an advantageStrong knowledge of HVAC systems : Chillers, VRF / VRV, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, ducting, piping, BMS / controls.Familiarity with standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASME, ASTM.Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings (shop drawings, coordination drawings, schematics).Experience with Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) procedures.QA / QC Certification (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor).Safety certifications (BOSH, COSH) is an advantage.Strong communication and reporting skills.Attention to detail and high organizational ability.
