The German European School Manila is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and innovative educator to join our Secondary School team (English Section) as a Science Teacher and CAS Coordinator. The successful candidate will inspire students in Grades 6–10 to develop scientific literacy, critical thinking, and a lifelong curiosity about the natural world. In addition, as CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Coordinator, the teacher will guide students in designing, implementing, and reflecting on meaningful experiential learning projects aligned with IB (or equivalent)frameworks.
Tasks
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging science lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and standards.
- Foster inquiry-based learning, encouraging students to ask questions, explore concepts, and think critically.
- Utilize diverse teaching strategies, including laboratory experiments, technology integration, andcollaborative projects.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate effectively with parents/guardians. - Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the science curriculum and interdisciplinary learning
opportunities.
CAS Coordinator
- Develop and implement a structured CAS program that aligns with IB (or equivalent) standards.
- Guide students in identifying, planning, and executing CAS projects that balance Creativity, Activity, and Service.
- Monitor student participation, reflection, and documentation to ensure meaningful engagement.
- Provide mentorship, support, and guidance to students throughout their CAS journey.
- Coordinate with faculty and external partners to create opportunities for experiential learning and community service. Maintain accurate records and reports on student CAS engagement and achievements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Teaching certification/license
- Minimum of 2–3 years teaching experience at the middle school level.
- Strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning and 21st-century teaching methodologies.
- Prior experience with CAS, IB, or experiential learning programs is required
