GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects at once and serving as the representative at each worksite in dealings with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and government inspectors.
He / She will be expected to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures, codes, and provides progress updates to appropriate channels on regular basis. With each project, this individual is counted on to drive innovation and continuous improvement on work processes and productivity improvement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to the Project Director for the over-all progress and plans to overcome concerns involved.
- Over-all head in the progress of existing projects for the planning, cost and implementation of the project.
- In charge of the establishment of the project construction schedule and budgetary cost parameters establish the project construction schedule during the planning and construction stage.
- Initiates value engineering (during project planning and construction).
- Assists in the selection of consultants, contractors, suppliers for the required services of the project (design to construction) if needed.
- In charge of evaluating and managing status of projects in terms of physical and financial accomplishments (construction stage).
- Checks / Reviews / recommends approval on requests for changes in plans initiated by the project technical group whether due to aesthetics, functionality, site conditions or value engineering (construction development.
- Arbitrates/assists in the settlement of problems/conflicts between members of the Project Technical Group (technical issues, coordinating issues);
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- Graduate of Civil Engineering
- Candidate must possess at least Professional License (Passed Board/Professional License Exam) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Strong understanding of the relevant electrical, mechanical, building codes and other requirements for a construction site.
- With at least 8 years of project management or construction management experience
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent project management skills with a highly organized approach, written and oral communications and presentation skills
- Advance analytical and problem-solving acumen, results focused and detailed-oriented
- Team player and able to multi-task
- Knowledgeable in construction planning and scheduling
- Proficient in computer software programs (ie MS Office)
