Job Summary :
The Safety Officer is responsible for assisting in the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the company’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) programs in compliance with the Republic Act 11058 (“An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards”) and DOLE Department Order No. 198-18.
The Safety Officer ensures that all workplace activities are conducted safely, that hazards are controlled, and that employees and contractors follow safety procedures at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Safety Program Implementation
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s safety and health policies.
Ensure compliance with OSHS, RA 11058, and DOLE regulations.
Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify unsafe acts or conditions.
Recommend corrective and preventive measures to management.
2. Accident Prevention and Investigation
Conduct accident and incident investigations, determine root causes, and prepare reports.
Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain updated records of all safety-related incidents and corrective actions.
3. Training and Orientation
Conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, and other OSH-related trainings.
Promote a culture of safety awareness among all employees and contractors.
Coordinate with DOLE-accredited training providers for required OSH trainings.
4. Documentation and Reporting
Maintain DOLE-required documents such as OSH Committee minutes, Annual Medical Report, and Work Accident / Illness Exposure Data.
Submit necessary reports to DOLE Regional Offices when required.
Assist in preparing and updating the Construction Safety and Health Program (CSHP), if applicable.
5. Emergency Preparedness and Response
Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response and evacuation plans.
Ensure readiness and availability of first aid kits, firefighting equipment, and emergency procedures.
Coordinate with emergency responders during drills or actual incidents.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or any related field.
Training : Must have completed the 40-hour Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training for Safety Officer 2, conducted by a DOLE-accredited OSH training organization.
Experience : At least 2 years of relevant OSH experience in construction, manufacturing, logistics, or other industrial settings.
Certification : Valid BOSH, COSH, LCM & HIRAC certificate and preferably trained in First Aid / Basic Life Support.
Skills :
Strong knowledge of RA 11058, DO 198-18, and OSHS.
Good communication, leadership, and observation skills.
