About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned executive to lead our Fish Brokerage and Cold Storage operations in the Philippines. This critical role will manage the full fish trading lifecycle — from fishing vessel partnerships and wet market auctions to cold chain storage and buyer settlements.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in fish brokerage, seafood logistics, port operations, and regulatory compliance (BFAR / DA). You will lead pricing strategy, team performance, client partnerships, and ensure operational excellence in a fast-moving, volume-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Fish Brokerage & Trading Strategy
- Oversee daily fish brokerage and auction operations across major ports or landing sites.
- Manage relationships with fishing vessel owners, brokers, and wet market operators.
- Supervise fish classification, weighing, pricing, and turnover activities.
- Monitor fish pricing trends (local and export) to guide sourcing and sales strategies.
- Expand seafood buyer base including exporters, retailers, and institutional clients.
Cold Storage & Inventory Oversight
Lead cold storage operations to ensure product freshness, inventory turnover, and safety.Integrate auction flow with storage and logistics operations.Manage inventory KPIs including spoilage, holding cost, and throughput volume.Compliance & Government Regulations
Ensure full compliance with BFAR, DA, FDA, and LGU permitting requirements.Maintain food safety certifications, auction documentation, and fish traceability systems.Lead audits and regulatory inspections related to fish trading and storage.Financial & Business Performance
Own P&L across brokerage and cold storage units.Manage cost controls, margin tracking, pricing models, and settlement flows.Oversee timely remittances to vessel partners, auctioneers, brokers, and market clients.Team Leadership & Culture
Lead cross-functional teams : fish classifiers, auctioneers, warehouse staff, logistics, and admin.Build a strong, ethical, and accountable work culture across port and facility teams.Oversee hiring, training, and performance management of trading and ops staff.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Maritime Logistics, Business Management, or similar field (MBA is a plus)Minimum 10 years of executive experience in fish trading, seafood logistics, or cold chain operationsStrong knowledge of wet market auction systems, fish handling protocols, and vessel-buyer dynamicsFamiliarity with cold storage facilities, inventory systems, and product movementExperience in handling BFAR / DA compliance, market permits, and food safety documentationExcellent in people management, crisis handling, and high-stakes negotiationPreferred Profile
Deep understanding of Philippine fish trading landscape (Navotas, General Santos, Zamboanga, etc.)Prior exposure to auction houses, port-based sourcing, or seafood distributionStrong network with vessel owners, fish brokers, seafood buyers, and exportersTech-savvy in basic inventory, pricing, or ERP systems is a plus
