Job Summary :
The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for ensuring that patients have valid and active insurance coverage for the services offered by the healthcare facility. This role involves direct interaction with both patients and insurance providers to verify benefits and explain coverage, helping ensure the patient receives optimal care without unexpected costs.
Key Responsibilities :
Insurance Verification :
- Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits for patients through insurance portals and by making calls to insurance companies.
- Confirm patient coverage, limitations, deductibles, co-pays, and waiting periods to ensure patients are informed prior to appointments.
- Input and update verified insurance details into the practice management system accurately.
- Ensure all insurance information is up-to-date before patient visits to avoid delays in billing and treatment.
Communication :
Make outbound calls to insurance carriers to clarify and confirm patient coverage.Collaborate with the front desk and billing teams to resolve any discrepancies in insurance information.Respond to inquiries from patients or team members regarding insurance status.Qualifications :
Minimum 1 year of experience in dental insurance verification.Strong understanding of dental insurance plans, billing codes, and benefit details.Proficiency in using insurance portals, EHR / PMS systems ((e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental), and other verification tools.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Prior experience managing both PPO and Medicaid / Medicare dental insurance claims.Job Type : Full-time
