Job Summary :
The Cost Accountant is responsible for monitoring and controlling project costs, budgeting, and financial reporting for construction projects. This role ensures cost efficiency, accuracy in cost allocation, and financial compliance in support of project profitability and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare, monitor, and update project budgets, cost forecasts, and variance analyses.
Track actual vs. budgeted project costs and investigate discrepancies.
Maintain accurate cost records and ensure all project-related expenses are recorded correctly.
Conduct cost allocation and cost control procedures for materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams for cost planning and budget adjustments.
Analyze and report on project profitability and cost performance to management.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, billing schedules, and progress claims.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
Recommend cost-saving measures and process improvements.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
At least 2–4 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
CPA license is an advantage but not required.
Strong understanding of construction project accounting, cost control, and budget management.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or construction-specific ERP systems).
Advanced MS Excel skills and knowledge of financial reporting tools.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
