This is a remote position.

Schedule :

  • Mondays to Fridays, 8 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM, AEST

Position Purpose :

The Estimating Assistant will support senior estimators in preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil construction projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical knowledge of civil works, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist senior estimators in preparing cost estimates and tender documentation for civil construction projects.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation to identify project scope and quantify materials and labor requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs, including but not limited to earthworks, drainage, pavement, and landscaping.
  • Utilize Bluebeam software for measurements, markups, and project documentation.
  • Source, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Maintain and update cost databases with current market rates, supplier information, and historical data.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with construction methodologies and project timelines.
  • Monitor industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory requirements to support accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Ensure all cost estimates and submissions comply with relevant standards, codes, and client specifications.

    Qualifications & Skills :

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (preferred).
  • 1–3 years of experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or a related role in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction processes and materials.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for engaging with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
