foodpanda is rapidly expanding its pandamart business—our dark store vertical—focused on providing customers with the ultimate convenience in grocery and essentials delivery. As the Category & Commercial Head, you will take ownership of this high-growth vertical, driving topline revenue while ensuring sustainable bottom-line performance. You will lead a team responsible for category management, pricing strategies, assortment optimization, and commercial partnerships, ensuring that pandamart becomes a market leader in online quick commerce.

This role requires a strong business acumen, deep analytical skills, a people-centric leadership approach, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across local and regional teams. You will be at the forefront of defining and executing commercial strategies, expanding market penetration, and fostering a high-performance culture.

We are looking for a Head of Category and Commercial (Pandamart) to join our growing business!

Responsibilities

1. Business Growth & Commercial Strategy

  • Develop and execute growth strategies to increase pandamart’s market penetration, sales volume, and customer acquisition.
  • Own topline revenue growth while optimizing bottom-line profitability through strategic pricing, promotions, and margin management.
  • Identify new category opportunities, optimize product assortment, and improve pricing and inventory strategies to enhance customer experience and drive sales.
  • Monitor competitor activities, consumer trends, and industry developments to stay ahead of market dynamics.

2. Category & Assortment Management

  • Define and implement category strategies, ensuring a well-balanced and competitive assortment that meets customer demand.
  • Work closely with suppliers and commercial partners to negotiate favorable terms and drive innovation in product offerings.
  • Optimize inventory levels to ensure availability while minimizing waste and operational costs.
  • 3. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing commercial and category management team.
  • Foster a data-driven, customer-centric culture that encourages innovation and agile decision-making.
  • Set clear KPIs and performance metrics, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
  • 4. Stakeholder & Regional Management

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Marketing, Tech, and Finance teams, to drive business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with regional counterparts to align local strategies with broader company goals and best practices.
  • Regularly present business performance, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Qualifications

  • Experience : 8+ years of experience in commercial, category management, e-commerce, retail, or FMCG. Experience in quick commerce, dark stores, or online grocery is a strong plus.
  • Strategic Thinking : Ability to translate market trends and data into actionable business strategies.
  • Leadership & People Management : Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Commercial Acumen : Strong negotiation skills, P&L management, and understanding of margin drivers.
  • Stakeholder Management : Strong interpersonal skills to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making : Analytical mindset with proficiency in using data to drive business decisions.
  • Agility & Execution Focus : Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a hands-on approach.
