R&D Laboratory Manager

Basic Function : Supervises all personnel involved in all developmental stages of a product, prepares and tests product formulations and prepares documents for product registration.Scope : The scope of this position encompasses preparation and brainstorming of new product concept / formulation, initial trials of the formula, supervision of employees involved in manufacturing and packaging of products, supervision of technicians involved in the testing of samples in all developmental stages of a product (ie.

raw materials / imported bulk / product bulk / in-process samples / finished products / samples in stability program and method validation), the training / retraining of all research and development personnel, scheduling of analysis in the research laboratory, maintenance and upkeep of instrument, equipment and area assigned to the research and development team and the evaluation of results generated from the laboratory tests.

It also includes the preparation of all pertinent documents that complete the technical dossiers for product registration.Duties and Responsibilties : 1.

Provides creative and scientific inputs in the making of product formulations.2.

Assists in the preparation of lab scale and / or pilot scale trials of formulations under development.3.

Ensures availability of Manufacturing Order (MO), Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) and Packaging Order (PO) prior to manufacturing and packaging schedule and provides proper potency adjustments for raw materials.4.

Ensures timely release of products for further processing.5.

Reviews and monitors batch documents prior to the next manufacturing step or packaging process.6.

Assigns and executes daily schedule based on product priorities and availability of resources.7.

Evaluates the results of the tests performed in accordance with the quality standards.8.

Communicates any observed out-of-specifications arising from the testing of trial samples / products / stability samples.9.

Helps in the investigation and research on the probable cause and plausible solution to problems encountered regarding products being developed.10.

Performs research in the troubleshooting of errors arising from the manufacture and testing of products under development, which could lead to changes in the manufacturing procedure, change in packaging material, change in the actual formulation or changes in the testing methods / paramaters / specifications.11.

Joins the team in the decision making whenever problems are encountered for products under development.12.

Enforces company policies and compliance to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).13.

Maintains good working condition of machines and equipment and facilities by proper coordination with the Engineering and Maintenance group for the Preventive Maintenance Programs.14.

Trains and re-trains employees in accordance with the training program of the department.15.

Prepares documents and completes the technical dossier for product registration.Weekly Tasks : 1.

Monitors the status of all products under development.2.

Prepares an update of all products and submits it to the Company President and R&D Department Head for discussion during the weekly meeting.3.

Attends meetings with the R&D team and the Company President.4.

Attends meetings with the Product Marketing and Development group.5.

Provides useful information to the Product Marketing and Development group regarding the products under development and fetches data on what new concepts may be worked on by R&D.Annual / Occasional Tasks : 1.

Attends seminars to enhance knowledge on new materials or active ingredients and learn new manufacturing technologies and researches on new formulations or products which may be developed by the company.2.

Evaluates and measures efficiency and performance of personnel.3.

Recommends hiring, disciplinary action (reprimand, suspension or dismissal) for erring personnel, transfer if necessary, or promotion of deserving personnel.4.

Initiates and enforces disciplinary measures.5.

Assists in addressing regulatory-related matters for both client-owned and Interphil-owned products.6.

Attends meeting on complete status review of all existing products of Interphil.7.

Contributes to product marketing and development especially with digital marketing and advertising.

• College Education with BS (Chemistry / Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy / Industrial Pharmacy, Biology) and passed the Government Licensure Examination.
• At least minimum of 3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
