Job description

We are looking for a Canadian Customs Entry Specialist will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing customs documentation , ensuring compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regulations , and coordinating with clients, carriers, and customs officers to facilitate seamless imports.

  • Prepare and process customs entries for shipments entering Canada.
  • Ensure compliance with CBSA regulations, tariffs, duties, and trade agreements (e.g., CUSMA / USMCA, CPTPP, etc.) .
  • Classify goods using the Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes and apply correct duty rates.
  • Communicate with CBSA, freight forwarders, carriers, and clients to resolve any customs clearance issues.
  • Verify and review invoices, bills of lading, and supporting import documentation.
  • Track shipments and update clients on customs clearance status.
  • Stay up to date with Canadian customs regulations, duty / tax changes, and import / export laws .
  • Maintain accurate records in customs brokerage software (e.g., Descartes, BorderConnect, or SAP GTS) .
  • Assist with audits, duty recovery, and compliance reporting as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in customs brokerage, logistics, or international trade .
  • Working knowledge of CBSA regulations, tariff classification, and customs documentation .
  • Proficiency in customs brokerage software (e.g., Descartes, BorderConnect, SAP GTS, or similar) .
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document verification .
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills .
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
