Job Summary :
The Innovation Lab Coordinator works at the direction of the Program Manager, Center for Innovative Leadership to coordinate and manage professional programs and events at Furman’s Innovation Lab in collaboration with the Hill Institute (THI).
Serves as the main point of contact and support for all on-site Innovation Lab programs. Provides insight to the Innovation Lab teams on courses, events, and professional services. Communicates with and acts as a liaison between prospects, students, instructors, administration, staff, and external agencies. Promotes programs in the community at events, expos, and conferences. Administers programs under guidance of CIL Program Manager (monitoring instructors, syllabi, contracts, class scheduling, corresponding with students and instructors, and assisting students with course and program interpretation). Provides office management and administrative support to Innovation Lab staff and collaborators including community partners and Furman University students, faculty, and staff.
Job Description : Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination at Furman Innovation Lab (55%)
Manages the scheduling and operational use of the Furman Innovation Lab at Flywheel Coworking, including internal programming and external rental hours, and off campus programs and events.Serves as coordinator and first point of contact for all Innovation Lab partners, events, and community programs.Manages Innovation Lab relationship with Flywheel staff.Serves as liaison instructors, prospects, and students, in collaboration with external Flywheel Community ManagerResponsible for program and event logistics, catering, and supply management for at the Furman Innovation Lab and Furman 101.Incorporates new ideas and procedures to optimize the student experience and internal / external organizational efficiencies.Program Administration (25%)
Manages course and event registration and student on-boarding for Innovation Lab programsManages database of prospects, students, and program alumni.Provides administrative and logistical support for off-campus events and programmingAssists with written communication for students, facilitators, interacting with Innovation LabGenerates, curates, and improves standards of templated written communication for students, facilitators, interacting with CIL.Administrative and Space Support (10%)
Works closely with our Flywheel partners to ensure alignment with their operations and initiatives in the Crescent Innovation District.Documents meetings and events through note-taking, photography, videography, and other means.Performs other administrative and office management duties as needed, such as sending correspondence, preparing files, making copies, and supporting meeting and workspace hospitality.Promotion / Marketing (5%)
Coordinates outreach and marketing support to prospects and leads interested in use of the Furman Innovation Lab spaceProvides customer service for and direct marketing of Innovation Lab programing.Represents and promotes programs and courses at relevant University, professional and community and business events.Assists in managing and updating website content and identifying ways to improve the online experience for the customer.Works with Innovation Lab team to developing program marketing strategies, promotional initiatives, and materials.Supports marketing efforts within CRM software, email, and other forms of communication.Instructional Assistance (5%)
Supports administration and communication to professional education instructorsDevelops and maintains instructor resources, Learning Management systems, other related technologies required for students, instructors, Innovation Lab teams.Assists instructors in the classroom by setting-up classroom supplies and technologies.Reports To : Program Manager, CIL. Supports Hill Institute Director of Entrepreneurship Programs for select Hill Institute Programs.
Education / Skill Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of related experienceProficient in Microsoft 365Ability to complete numerical workExcellent organization and communication skills (written and verbal)Ability to work occasional evenings and some weekends, based on programmatic needs and event schedulesAbility to prioritize tasks, problem-solve and seek information and appropriate contacts to move tasks forwardExperience with marketing and promotion for educational programming preferredHigher Education experience is preferredWork Conditions :
Work is performed under usual office conditions, remote work when permitted.
Work requires attention to detail and flexibility to assist the Supervisor and CIL / THI Team when needs arise for event and time-specific instances.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed for event setup and materials transport
