- Responsibilities
- Coordinates with the front desk on appointments scheduled for the day
- Based on doctors' schedule, retrieves patient chart and classifies them (new or former patient, LASIK, Phaco or Gencon)
- Assist doctors and follows instructions on the next step to take based on the findings of the doctor
- Advices patients on procedures to be undertaken, including the rates, and inquires on patient's preference when to have it done
- Assist patients to the examination rooms for consultation and treatment by the Ophthalmologist
- Ushers patients to billing with the duly accomplished charge slip
- Summarizes the number of patients checked by the optometrists and the doctors at the end of the day
- For cataract surgery patients, provide referral slip for Cardia-Pulmonary clearance as needed.
They will also have to undergo a retinal screening and cataract workup
During LASIK surgery day :
Guides the patient to operating room for image captureSecures signed consent form from patient who will undergo LASIK surgeryInstruct the patient to read the fixation target chartCoordinates with the Optometrist for manifest refraction and other necessary work-upUpdates the OR staff regarding patient's statusInstill dilating drops to patients for cyclopegic refraction and surgical wavefrontAssist the Ophthalmologist in making the eye in preparation for surgeryEscorts the patient to the cashier to settle payment duesEnsures that the patient records are complete before proceeding to the operation roomEndorses nurses to the pre-operative room nurseEscorts the patient from the operating room to waiting companionPerforms other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisorDuring Cataract day :
