We're looking for a Production Draftsman or CAD Engineer who can take a project from concept to factory-floor-ready documentation without hand-holding. This role supports a manufacturing operation producing custom furniture and millwork, and the output standard is high. You will create multi-view production drawings, 3D renderings, component-level dissections, bills of materials, and DXF files ready for machine programmers and production equipment teams.
The primary tools are AutoCAD and AlphaCAM. If you have worked in furniture, millwork, or contract manufacturing and know what it takes to get a design out of a concept and into production, this role is a strong fit.
Why You'll Want to Join
- You will be paid in USD (bi-monthly: every 15th and 30th)
- Up to 14 days of Paid Time Off annually (starting Day 1)
- Observance of Holidays per company guidelines
- 100% remote setup so you can work wherever you're most productive
- Direct ownership over production documentation across active manufacturing projects
- Opportunity to help clear a real production and engineering backlog with meaningful output
What You'll Work On
Production Drawings and Renderings
- Create detailed multi-view production drawings from conceptual specifications, rough sketches, and architectural drawings
- Produce 3D isometric renderings for client-facing presentations and internal engineering review
- Translate high-level design intent into precise, dimensioned shop drawings that production teams can execute without ambiguity
- Ensure all drawings meet manufacturing tolerances and machining requirements
Component Dissection and BOM Generation
- Break down assemblies into individual components and sub-components with accurate part numbering
- Generate complete bills of materials for each job including vendor references, part descriptions, quantities, and hardware specifications
- Produce exploded assembly diagrams and component-level documentation to support in-house assembly and packaging
- Maintain accuracy across BOMs as designs evolve through revisions
DXF File Preparation and Machine Handoff
- Prepare cut-ready DXF files for handoff to machine programmers and CNC production equipment teams
- Ensure file accuracy, layer organization, and geometry cleanliness before every handoff
- Work directly with AlphaCAM for programming support as needed
- Coordinate with production teams to resolve any file or drawing issues before they reach the floor
Backlog Support and Documentation
- Support the team in clearing an active production and engineering backlog efficiently
- Maintain organized drawing files, revision histories, and project documentation
- Flag discrepancies between design intent and producibility early in the process
What You Bring
- Proven experience creating shop drawings, production drawings, and cut-ready files for manufacturing
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and 3D modeling
- Experience generating accurate bills of materials with part-level detail and vendor references
- Ability to dissect complex assemblies into individual components and produce clear documentation for the factory floor
- Experience preparing DXF files for CNC or other production equipment
- Strong attention to dimensional accuracy and drawing standards
- Ability to work independently from a brief or rough concept through to completed production documentation
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with AlphaCAM or similar CAM software
- Background in furniture, millwork, contract manufacturing, or a related production environment
- Experience producing client-facing renderings from rough or architectural drawings
- Familiarity with hardware specifications and fastener systems common in furniture manufacturing
How to Apply
Please include:
- Your updated resume
- A portfolio link showing examples of production drawings, BOMs, or DXF files you have created, ideally from furniture, millwork, or manufacturing projects
- A short Loom video (1 to 2 minutes) walking through a production drawing or BOM you are proud of, what the project involved, and how you approached breaking it down from concept to production-ready documentation
Only candidates who submit both a portfolio and Loom video will be moved to the next step of the hiring process.
If you can take a concept and turn it into a complete, production-ready documentation package that a factory team can execute without coming back to ask questions, this role gives you the ownership and the output volume to do that work at scale.
