The Role
Excellence
- Prepare valuations of pension plans and retiree welfare plans for consulting offices
- Respond to queries from consultants with respect to plan provisions and valuation results and resolve / escalate any problems or issues
- Complete work in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations applicable to the plan
- Utilize detailed tasks and steps to produce quality projects
- Complete analysis and reconciliations of plan participant data
- Reconcile plan assets
- Manages the timeline for some small projects or components of larger projects.
- Performs technical review of standard / complex projects.
- Identifies and communicates technical / analytical issues to project teams.
- Supervises new hires and less-experienced associates on project basis.
- Allocates / co-ordinates work among project hires, interns and new associates
- Actively participate in team and project planning and suggests improvements based on observed best practices.
- Serve as primary doer and liaise effectively with consultants and actuaries regarding data collection and project execution required for global accounting consolidation projects
- Prepare the first draft of deliverables for review by the consultant in accordance to project deadlines

Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teamsDemonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with associates in other Towers Watson officesProvides (ongoing) on-the-job training to project hires, interns and junior associates on routine projects, including basic tools, issues and concepts.Mentors and manages junior associates in regards to budgets, timelines and Excellence standards.Act as feedback provider on performance review of junior associates and new associates for regularization.Clients

Meet chargeable hours targetsContribute to profitability by preparing project budgets, monitoring own time spent on project and maintaining accurate time recordsEnsures projects are consistently correct, on-time and within budget. Notifies project manager of potential write-offs and identifies need to modify scope on a project to address unanticipated issues.Increase efficiency within teams by identifying ways to improve processesAllocates / co-ordinates work among project hires, interns and new associatesActively participate in team and project planning and suggests improvements based on observed best practices.Qualifications
The Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a program with heavy emphasis on mathematics, statistics or engineeringFresh Graduates are welcome to applyOr those with at least 2 years of work experience in a Senior Actuarial roleProven mathematical aptitudeAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Previous defined benefit pension experience requiredWell organized and detail oriented, effective time management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with colleagues at all levelsStrong analytical and integrative skills including the ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systemic wayAbility to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate, good problem solvingStrong client service orientationAbility to apply newly acquired knowledge to future assignmentsAbility to work both independently and on client teamsSense of accountability and ability to display initiative in self developmentActuarial exams / designation, a plusWTW is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
