About the Role :
The Senior Tax Officer is responsible for monitoring all tax assessments and tax refunds of the group, ensuring timely submission of required documents and reconciliations, and coordinating with tax authorities and consultants to close audits and claims. This role also ensures adherence to the approved transfer pricing policy.
Key Responsibilities :
A. Tax Audits, Litigation, Refund and Health Checks
- Complete necessary documentation and reconciliation in a timely and accurate manner to aid in the closure of BIR tax audits
- Prepare replies to Notice of Discrepancies, Preliminary Assessment Notice, and Final Assessment Notice
- Execute tax health check activities by providing the necessary documentation and reconciliation during internal audits
- Monitor tax issues and handle assessments from local government units (LGU) in collaboration with various functions
- Handle tax refunds by filing relevant applications and providing required documentation / reconciliation in a timely and accurate manner in collaboration with tax consultants
- Act as company liaison to the BIR and external consultants
B. Tax Planning
Assist in identifying opportunities for tax incentives, tax credits, and refunds to maximize tax expensesSupport in devising tax savings strategies in different business areas and transactions (e.g., tax treaty relief applications)Implement strategies and controls to mitigate tax exposures noted by authoritiesPrepare monthly / quarterly analysis of income and expenses to determine the most beneficial method of deductionPrepare annual analysis of taxable income to assess whether carry-over of excess CWT or CWT refund is most advantageousUpdate the company tax manualUpdate transfer pricing policy and ensure adherence by the groupC. Handle queries on tax implications of transactions (e.g., acquisitions, spin-offs, transfer pricing)Coordinate with Tax Compliance team on new issuances and their effect on the company’s tax statusQualifications :
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Experience in accounting systems (SAP and Netsuite)Extensive knowledge of taxes and statutory reporting requirementsUp to date on BIR issuances and Court rulingsAbility to work under pressure and adapt to changing tax reporting requirementsKeen attention to detailAdvanced Excel skillsWilling to be assigned in Ortigas, Pasig City during auditsCandidates with attached CV and relevant experience will be considered for a phone interview.
