Job Summary : The Sr.

Data Engineer plays a mission-critical role in building and optimizing GDEC's data infrastructure to enable scalable, cost-efficient, and compliant data operations.

This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with deep expertise in cloud-native platforms, ETL / ELT design, real-time streaming, and data governance.

The Senior Data Engineer will architect robust data pipelines, reduce report turnaround from days to hours, enhance data accuracy and audit readiness, and mentor junior engineers to elevate the team’s engineering maturity.

Key Responsibilities : Architect and implement end-to-end ETL / ELT pipelines for both batch and streaming data using tools such as Apache NiFi, Kafka, and Airflow.

Optimize data workflows and platform usage in AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3) and Snowflake to reduce data processing costs by 20–30%.

Establish automated data quality checks, lineage tracking, and documentation aligned with compliance standards such as NIST and PCI-DSS.

Tune SQL and Python-based data transformations for maximum performance and reliability.

Implement infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform and CloudFormation; maintain CI / CD pipelines via GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions.

Lead technical reviews and mentor junior data engineers in coding best practices, data modeling, and pipeline architecture.

Monitor system performance, ensure SLA adherence, and proactively resolve bottlenecks as data volumes scale.

Document all data processes, models, and integrations to ensure transparency and maintainability.

Support strategic initiatives such as AI and self-service analytics by ensuring the data platform meets evolving requirements.

Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related course.

At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, including leadership in architecture or project delivery.

Proficient in Python and SQL for large-scale data processing and transformation.

Deep experience with AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3), Snowflake, Kafka, Apache NiFi, and Airflow.

Knowledge of data modeling techniques and governance practices, with experience adhering to security and compliance standards.

Skilled in performance tuning for both batch and real-time data workloads.

Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI / CD practices.

Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and promote best practices.
