Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time Financial Controller / Finance Director to help our leadership teams understand and manage the financial mechanics of our operations. You will be responsible for analyzing revenue streams, expenses, and vendor relationships for both Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology companies, as well as related health care businesses run by the partners. Using data from QuickBooks, Gusto (payroll), our bank accounts (view access), and other financial tools, you will prepare clear, actionable financial reports and recommendations for leadership to implement.
This is a fully remote position, and while you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, availability for virtual meetings up to twice a week between 2 : 00 PM and 10 : 00 PM Pacific Time is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
Collect and analyze financial data from QuickBooks, Gusto, bank statements (view access), and other payment platforms.
Prepare monthly (or more frequent) reports on revenue by client and cost by cost center.Provide detailed variance analyses and highlight trends to leadership.Budgeting & ForecastingDevelop and maintain budgets and rolling forecasts for both Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology companies.
Identify cost optimization opportunities, revenue growth strategies, and potential investment areas.Collaborate with partners and business analysts to align forecasts with strategic goals.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork with our existing remote financial / business analysts to gather data and reconcile information.
Meet (virtually) with team members across various departments to better understand revenue drivers, expenses, and operational workflows.Communicate financial insights in a clear, concise manner to non-financial stakeholders.Ad Hoc Reporting & RecommendationsProduce additional financial or operational reports as requested by leadership.
Analyze vendor costs, invoices, and potential areas of spending inefficiency.Provide recommendations for financial improvements and next steps (the final approval and execution will be handled by the partners).Compliance & Best PracticesAssist in maintaining compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax requirements, and industry regulations.
Suggest internal controls and financial policies to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and security.Work with our external tax and accounting firms for any data they needAutonomy & Reporting Structure
The Financial Controller / Finance Director will not have autonomy to approve expenses or negotiate vendor contracts directly; their role is focused on analysis and advisory.This is a standalone role reporting directly to the company partners. However, collaboration with our existing financial / business analysts is expected to gather and reconcile data.Qualifications
Education & Experience :Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (CPA or CMA a plus, but not required).
At least 5 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role—healthcare or service industry experience preferred, but not requiredTechnical Skills :Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and Excel / Google Sheets.
Familiarity with Gusto or similar payroll systems is highly desirable.Comfortable accessing and interpreting bank statements, with view-only account access.Analytical & Communication Skills :Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret complex financial data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to explain finance-related concepts to non-finance individuals.Experience in business analytics or data analytics is a plus.Personal Attributes :Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Collaborative mindset, eager to learn and share knowledge.Able to work remotely with flexible hours, with availability for up to two weekly virtual meetings scheduled between 2 : 00 PM – 10 : 00 PM Pacific Time.Preferred Qualifications
6–14 years of progressive experience in senior accounting or finance roles.Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing teams (this role will oversee new hires).Strong grounding in financial reporting, budgeting, and operational finance (CPA / MBA a plus).
