As we continue to grow rapidly, the Design Coordinator plays a critical role within our business. Reporting to the Head of Design, the Design Coordinator is responsible for managing clients through the SHA Design & Approvals Process, working with Clients as the primary point of contact, and ensuring a seamless experience from initial briefing through to preparation of construction documentation.
In addition, this role will work with the relevant members of the SHA design team & external architect(s) to develop New Concepts & Design Development for launch to market in addition to Concept Design support and detailing for New Clients, translating client briefs into accurate and visually clear concept designs. The position requires strong communication, project coordination skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both clients and the design team.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Management - Develop and maintain strong relationships with active clients, acting as their primary point of contact throughout the design process.
- Serve as the conduit between clients and SHA Design Consultants (Architect & Engineer), ensuring a seamless experience from initial briefing through to construction documentation.
- Guide clients through each phase of the SHA Design & Approvals Process:
- Initial Design Meeting with client (online)
- Prepare Client Proposal
- Brief Design Consultants on New Clients
- Stage 1 – Site Analysis
- Stage 2 – Preliminary Design
- Stage 3 – Town Planning
- Stage 4 – Construction Documentation
- Liaise with clients at each stage to:
- Present designs
- Gather feedback
- Coordinate updates with the design team
- Arrange formal sign-off before progressing to the next stage
- Manage timeframes and output throughout design process
- Maintain weekly communication and updates for all active clients.
- Attend weekly Sales and Design Workflow meetings as a key participant, providing clear updates and reports on client status and design milestones.
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline the design process, improving efficiency and ensuring smoother progression through each project phase.
- Overseeing & implement QA systems on documentation.
- Managing Autodesk for documentation & coordination between consultants for design file storage.
Concept Design Detailing
Interpret client design briefs to develop draft concept design options ensuring designs are clear, accurate, and aligned with client requirements.
Collaborate closely with clients to incorporate feedback and achieve a signed-off concept design working within the SHA Design Principles.
Issue the approved concept design to the Architect Consultant to complete Stages 1–5, enabling a streamlined and efficient design process.
New Concepts & Design DevelopmentWork with Design Manager & External Architect to develop and model up new house type designs & floorplan options based on SHA’s Design Principles & relevant NCC considerations.

What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who:- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp) and project management tools is an advantage and highly looked upon.
- Understanding of the NCC 2022 & other relevant codes of practice for compliant design.
- Experience in residential rendering (nice to have)
- Ability to generate floor plans (space floor plans) – nice to have

Requirements5+ years’ expeStrong administrative, organisational and time management skills Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy Experience working with CRM systems (Monday.com experience preferred) Comfortable using Outlook, document management systems and shared workspaces Strong communication and coordination skills Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining structured and organised workflows A proactive, solutions-focused mindset Experience in residential rendering (nice to have) Ability to generate floor plans (space floor plans) – nice to haverience as a Mechanical Estimator, preferably in gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or relevant trade qualification (Cert III) Proficient in planning, organising, and working to timelines and schedules Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite Strong knowledge of gas power plant systems, mechanical construction, and installation methods is an advantage Clear understanding of appropriate Australian Codes and Standards, OH&S Codes and Standards is a plus Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to assess and manage risk in cost planning
