Application Manager

Job Description

In your role as Application Manager you will be part of Avaloq’s Service Operations division. With our services we support more than 30 banks globally and ensure their processes run smoothly, compliant, and efficiently.

As Application Manager you are responsible for the technical operation and application support for the Enterprise Data Management system “Temenos Data Source” (TDS aka T-ProDB) for Financial Instrument data management. You work closely with technical stakeholders, business users and business analysts.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the stable and reliable operation of business-critical applications in a production environment.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement application releases, upgrades, and operational changes.
• Monitor application services, interfaces, and batch processing to ensure service quality and availability.
• Perform incident, problem, and exception management, including participation in on-call support activities.
• Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, automation scripts, and monitoring solutions.
• Support and continuously improve operational processes and framework procedures.
• Maintain technical documentation, operating manuals, and support procedures.
• Participate in regular service reviews and operational meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to migration, upgrade, and transformation projects within the service landscape.
• Drive automation and standardization initiatives to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in application management, application support, or production operations of business-critical systems.
• Scripting and automation skills using Bash/Shell scripting in Linux/Unix environments.
• Good Linux/Unix knowledge with experience in troubleshooting, log analysis, job scheduling, and operational support.
• Hands-on experience with Java application servers, preferably JBoss/WildFly, including deployment, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with release management, application deployments, and operational change processes.
• Working knowledge of Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases, including execution and troubleshooting of SQL scripts.
• Experience with monitoring, incident management, problem management, and service operations.
• Banking or financial services experience is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Temenos DataSource (TDS/T-ProDB) or similar enterprise data management platforms is considered a strong advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with a strong service orientation.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within international teams.
• Very good English communication skills.
